Digital Study Punisher

I've never really been able to capture the way I imagine the Punisher in a piece. Every time I draw him I channel someone else who has drawn him before. In this case I decided to try a few digital studies to see if I could find a look that was more "me" than other artists that have drawn him. I'm super busy catching up after roughly two weeks and counting fighting this cold. I don't know when I'll get to do a final version this piece.

I'm on this recent kick where I try and treat my digital layout sketches like painted tonal studies. I'm always trying to bring more volume into my work and when everything is represented with line it can lose that 3d effect for me. Trying to start with a more thought out base and work those themes through to the final piece.

This piece took about an hour in Photoshop. The textures are from a series of inks splats and textures I created and scanned into the computer so I could build a library of natural elements I could add to my pieces as needed. If I ever get it together..and get over this cold. I may release them so others can have fun with them.
